The Dr. Giovanni Di Piazza Medical Laboratory uses the Harmony Prenatal Test, a very precise prenatal screening system that analyses the fetus DNA present in the mother’s blood to verify the risk of Down’s syndrome, aka trisomy 21, and other two genetic conditions, i.e. trisomy 18, or Edwards syndrome, and trisomy 13, or Patau syndrome. The test also detects aneuploidy of the X and Y sex chromosomes and microdeletions in the chromosomal region 22q11.2
The Harmony Prenatal Test requires only one blood sample and can be taken after the tenth week of pregnancy by making an appointment at our laboratory. Results will be available in two weeks.
